Travel ban

For repeatedly travelling without a ticket or for being aggressive or violent

As of 1 September 2016, passengers who regularly travel without a ticket, threaten others, call them names or even use physical violence may be issued a travel ban by Syntus Service & Control staff who are authorised to do so. This travel ban applies to a specific route (bus or train) for a period of four to eight weeks, depending on the severity and nature of the incident. During that time, the passenger in question cannot use any of Syntus' buses or trains on that route.

Syntus does not tolerate any unacceptable behaviour on its buses or trains. It is important that our passengers and our staff feel safe when using public transport.

Enforcement

Syntus Service & Control staff will enforce any travel bans they have imposed. That means that, should a passenger violate the ban, Syntus staff will apprehend the passenger in question and hand them over to the police. Syntus has made agreements about this with the police and the Public Prosecution Department.
